Adding ROM

Recently I purchased a Dimension E520 with Windows Vista Ultimate with 2GB of RAM.  I just purchased 2GB of additional RAM from DELL to fill all 4 RAM slots for a total of 4 GB.  When I select F2 on start-up, I can see that all 4 RAM slots are occupied for a total of 4GB but after Windows Vista boots up, when I check system, it says that there is only 3GB of RAM.  Why isn't Vista seeing 4GB of RAM?

32 bit operating systems can only address 3GB.  You would have to switch to the 64 bit version to get above 3 GB.

This has been discussed many times.  Do a search on the Vista Software section.

Also, before you upgrade, make sure you have 64 bit drivers.
