Advise needed for computer upgrade

Could I please get some advise as to how I can better use/update my computer for video editing? At the moment I can comfortably edit around 10-15 minutes of video but if I want more on the computer it starts to slow down or stop. I have Dimension XPS B733x, 20gb H/D, 2x128mb RAM, a setting of 3gb memory for the editing software and are running at 94% performance and 16gb disk space. What are some options I can apply to speed/improve or change what I have? Thanks, Meezi.

Two thing you could do is...
1.) Add more memory to your machine, More memory always helps, if that is not financially practacle right now then wait.

2.) Keep your machine DE-FRAGMENTED. This seems to keep it runing at top performance.

3.) When getting ready to do your editing, use control-Alt-Delete and close down all programs except EXPLORER & SYSTRAY

4.) last but not least, disable your screen-saver

These may sound like simple steps, but sometimes will make a big difference in performance.

Hope that helps...

Of the 4 suggestions mentioned by Ziwpiz, only #1 will have any noticable effect. Video editing is memory intensive. There's just no escaping that fact.

When you say I need more memory ... is that RAM or H/D? Thanks for the reply.
