AMD Processor not Compatible?
Hello,
I installed 1GB DDR2 800MHZ RAM and a 5200+ CPU as a upgrade to my Dell C521. But in CPU-z, and the BIOS I get a clock speed of 2.61GHZ not the original 2.7GHZ. I disabled Cool & Qiuet already, what can be wrong? Thanks, please help this is urgent!

Most likely the BIOS thinks your Brisbane is a Windsor, therefore the difference in clock speeds. Unfortunately there is nothing that I know of you can do to correct it. The latest BIOS update for the C521 was September 2007 and the 5200+ you have is probably a G2 released after that.

Thanks, but why does the CPU-z says its a Brisbane? And yeah in CPU-Z its a G2 revision.

CPU-Z has it's own detection process, but probably leaves the clock speed up to the BIOS to determine.

Here is the best information that I've found concerning release dates and such.

Thanks, I found out I was still using the old BIOS (1.1.10). I installed the new (1.1.11) BIOS and still no luck. Do you think I should exchange this one for another?

If your PC is running fine and not crashing then I wouldn't be to worried about it. Otherwise you need to find a Windsor if you can. Brisbanes have replaced Windsors so they can be hard to find. A 5600+ Windsor (ADA5600IAA6CZ) would be a good trade.
