Another MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER user with issues
Hello and HELP...
All of a sudden I have no sound. A check of my device manager shows the yellow question mark next to the multimedia audio controller. Following suggestion read here, I reinstalled the intel chipset driver (intel chipset software installation utility v5.00.1012) and then rebooted. Upon startup, it found the multimedia audio controller. I didn't respond when it asked if it should look for the drivers automatically of if I should point it to a specific directory. I just let it sit there while I installed SBLA05W.exe.
My system responded with the following message "setup could not detect any sound blaster card on your system. setup will now exit."
So now I don't know what my next step should be.
Here is all my system info..
Computer Model Dimension 8300
BIOS Vendor Dell Computer Corporation
BIOS Version A03
BIOS Date 09-19-03
Windows Version Microsoft Windows XP Professional
thanks for any help.

Please edit your post to remove your service tags.(both of them ) it is a violation of the TOS and will get your post deleted.
There two files listed are patches/upgrades for the cards and not the driver. I would id the card you actually have and then go to the Creative site to get the driver

bfleissner,
Did you receive a Dell Sound Blaster CD with the PC? If yes, the driver should be on it. Did you disable the Integrated ADI 1980 sound in the bios?
