anyone verify that this will take H/Density chips. I have read alot of posts but could not find a clear "Yes or No" answer, just links to memory site saying "this should work"

Chris,

Thank you for your quick reply, i googled 3 of the sets you posted by part and alternate part numbers. All low density, after that i trolliped on over to Intel and did some reading ( OCD in full swing by now:emotion-2:  ) on the chip set compatibility. The Intel 75xx chipset's are compatible with High density and registered, chips, but only in combination with certain controllers and in most cases only over 6 gigs of ram.

So in the end i went to Ebay and bought a set of  HY5DU12822AT-D43 (2X1GB) for less than $50, I guess it's a litlel better price than the $110 a stick Dell wants.

Its non ecc,  low density. I can't even believe they still make ecc memory for home computers.

I just have one more question,

Will this board take High density memory ?? :emotion-43:   i guess its my OCD again.

Hi,

I have this same Dell Precision 650 Workstation, and have the same question.

Will this box accept HIGH-DENSITY memory modules?

I have found mixed information online, but I took a gamble and have ordered (4) 1GB Sticks of 333mhz PC2700 Non-ECC High-Density Memory.  My box currently has (4) 512 PC-2700 Low-Density RAM chips installed.  I am hoping that the Board will accept both HIGH/LOW Density Modules.

I will keep you posted.

By the way, this Dell Precision 650 may be an old system, but it is SOLID as a ROCK with it's Twin Xeon Processors.  Wish I could find more of them to buy, as they make incredible Servers for small businesses...
