Can you be more specific?  Does the software freeze when it reaches a certain step when you try to log-on? I am Beta-Testing the next AOL version, so I would be interested to know about your connectivity issues.  Are you on Broadband or Dial-Up?

I have dial up right now.   I am running AOL  9.0se.  I dial in and connect ok, but after about 20 min it will start slowing down and then it boots me right out.

OK.  The first thing to look at is your Firewall(s).  Look at Windows Firewall (Start>Control Panel>Windows Firewall>Exceptions.  Make sure that every box alongside AOL has got a tick mark in it.  If you have got additional Firewall Protection included with your anti-virus protection, look at Firewall Internet Applications, and make sure AOL is granted full access.  This should stop your interuptions.  If it doesn't resolve the issue, please come back to the Forum.

I also though that maybr the fire wall was the problem so I have checked that option. Everything looks to be on the right settings. I have even disabled the fire wall while on AOL and the same thing happens. It seems to happen more so if I am in a game room and playing a game. I have even turned off my screen saver and that didn't help either.  Thanks for your help.

Are you receiving any AOL error messages when you become disconnected from the Internet (important)?  Make sure that your anti-virus, and anti-spyware protection is up to date, and scan your computer.  Click AOL Keyword 'spyware' to download the free software.  See if the (Full) scanning improves things.  If you use the AOL  Favourite Places, open this and click 'manage', and select the first option to create a backup file of the list, as this may be lost when you perform the following actions, also you will need to re-enter you AOL password and Screen Name, when you next log in:

Right Click the AOL icon on your System Tray.  Select System information, Select Utilities, click 'Clear Browser Cache'.  Then click 'Quick Restore'.  Restart your computer.  If the symptom still persists, then re-open the Utilities page (as described above), and select:  'Rebuild AOL Adaptor'.  Restart your computer.  Follow the log-in instructions, and be ready to enter your AOL password and Screen Name.

If after this, there is still a problem, it may not be AOL.  Try some free online diagnostics from here:  www.pcpitstop.com

The 9.0 SE of AOL has connection problems.  And once it decides that you have connection problems you can't fix it in 9.0.

Finally, this is what AOL told me to do and it was the only thing that worked.   Open up an AOL CD, but don't run, just look at the files in explorer.  On the CD, no matter what version, there are lower versions on there.  Select AOL 7.0 or 8.0 and load it (remove 9.0 first).  Make all your connectivity settings and use it for a day or two and then upgrade to the 9.0 SE.  There's something with 9.0 SE that when it decides something it cannot be fixed no matter how many tecs you get on the line.  In my case, besides getting booted off constantly, 9.0 SE said I had no modem installed.  It was only after using a lower version and then upgrading back to 9.0 SE did the problem stop.
