Thanks for the reply. I have read some good and bad about Omega Drivers. Some messages have said that they didn't fix or help problem and they are very hard to uninstall. What do you think?
IL2-PF can be twitchy in setting the right graphic choices. I spent hours tweaking different settings until I was happy. Run the Setup program which can be found in the IL-2 folder (instead of the Video Options while running the program--though "Perfect" mode can only be chosen from within the game, I think).
From the Setup program you can change between Direct3D and OpenGL--switch to the one you're not currently using to see if that helps. On another tab there's a box to specify your hardware. If it's not pointing at the x800 selection, then try changing to that...if it is already try the "Maximum Settings" selection. For me the Maximum Settings was a better choice than directly identifying my video card family.
It's amazing all the different stuff you read. I've read some posts that say you really don't need to do the driver cleaner stuff. That you can just install one on top of the other and the install is coded to remove/replace the older version.
Use the real ATI drivers, not some aftermarket hack. Especially if you are troubleshooting. The Omegas can be fun to play with, but they are not supported in any way by the card manufacturer.
What fixes people's problems is using Driver Cleaner and re-installing the drivers, not the fact that they are Omega drivers instead of legit ATI Catalysts.
