Audio Controller Error Message

When I boot up I get a message that new hardware is installed, but then the message comes up that  the Multiple Medial Audio Controller cannot find the drivers. Therefore, I have no sound system. I have looked through all the discs which came with my system and the XP disc and cannot find the required driver to install. Has my controller card failed or is it a problem in trying to find the drivers?

In many cases the "mutimeida audio controller" drivers are part of the sound card (or integated audio) drivers.

Try reinstalling the sound card drivers and if that doesn't work, reinstall the chipset drivers first, then restart Windows and reinstall the sound drivers.

Which one of my system discs would these be found on? I have a disc for  the fax modem, Sonic RecordNow, Color Monitor, and the original Reinstallation Windows XP Home Editin.

You can download what you need from the Dell downloads site.  Click Technical Support at the top of this page, enter your Service Tag number or model number and then access the downloads.
