WIN98 does not understand the Chipset. Install the chipset drivers.

I installed the correct chipset as suggest, but my audio driver still isn't working and I do not have any sound. It was working prior to re-installing my operating system, but now it appears it's not working at all.

You need to go into the device manager and remove any yellow exclamation items and enable any that have a red X in them being disabled. Then install the CORRECT driver.
There is no such thing as one size fits all.

There are no yellow or red exclamation marks showing, all the audio drivers listed for an Optiplex GX100 will install with no problem. They are just not working with my sound card for some reason. So, I guess I will not have sound. But, if anyone knows where I can obtain compatible drivers that will work with a sound card for a Optiplex GX100 please reply.
