i take it you're on broadband as it says you have extrenal modem which means that you shouldn't worry about it connecting. if you are though is it a modem router or just a modem. mainly does it have lots of port at the back of the same shape (etherent). if so what amke is it
Thanks for your help folks. I have tracked the problem to having downloaded some software (by mistake!) called "Trailer Room", which requires permanent connection to the internet. I have uninstalled it and everything is now back to normal. Thanks again , David
You might want to run Hijack This and let one of the experts reveiw the log file, just to make sure that software didn't leave any nasties behind when you uninstalled it. ;)
Go to the HJT forum and click the red link at top of the page. Read all the FAQs and then post your log file there for expert review.
