When loading up, one of the opening messages before windows opens (in msdos?) is: C:\>C:\Windows.asp4.com Bad command or invalid file.
Is this important?
Have you tried doing a search for that file, to see what it belongs to? Click Start, Find, type in the asp4.com, and when it brings up the file (hopefully), right click on it, and choose Properties. Perhaps if you post whatever information you can, we can help figure out where the message is coming from.

I believe that file is associated with a nVidia graphics card (which I don't have in my system). From the way the error is phrased, it sounds like an entry in either autoexec.bat (most likely) or config.sys (less likely) has improper syntax. Rather than C:\Windows.asp4.com the entry probably says what the error message indicates. If the C:\> is removed the line should execute as it was intended, or you can place
REM in front of the line to keep it from executing.

The file is apparently related to the Turtle Beach Montego player. I just reloaded Windows 98 under the supervision of Dell techs and this player showed up in my tray for the first time in months, along with the bad command info showing up during start up. Last night I did an update on Windows 98 2nd Edition (if that's related to the problem), and it once more disappeared from my tray, along with the simple slider volume control icon. I would like the simple volume control icon back, but how?
Go to Start|Settings|Control Panel. Double-click Multimedia and check "Show volume control on taskbar."
