Within the BIOS, press
[ALT+F] to reset all fields within the BIOS to the default. Then, turn on all the keyboard's lock keys (NUM, CAPS, and SCROLL LOCK), and then press
[ALT+E]. This will clear the NVRAM. Exit the BIOS, saving changes, re-enter the BIOS, and check for proper drive sequence functionality.
If that still does not work, try flashing your BIOS with the most recent version (
revision A10), even if you are currently running with that version.
I have been having the same problems as the fellow above, and tried to Flash the BIOS with the A10 update, but when I save it to a floppy and reboot, it doesn't work. Any suggestions? PS - I can't even get windows XP to boot up. I reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled WinXP, but when I rebooted the machine, I was having the same problem - the computer was telling me to hit F1 to reboot or F2 to enter setup.
Cody K. you rock. I've been trying to fix that hard drive not found error for two days since buy this used dell. I followed your instructions,,and done a back flip when it worked. Thanks for being there for me.

Thank you, that worked perfectly. Upgraded the bios anyways.
Thanks
