princemoses,
Thank you for visiting DELLTalk.
You can reset the password by clearing the NVRAM on the system. To clear the NVRAM on a Dell Dimension Vxxx system, you need to first unplug the system, next press the power button to verify that the system will not come back on. Remove the side panel; for instruction on removing the panel, check the following web site:
http://support.dell.com/docs/systems/dwill/Removing.htm
Next locate the jumper block in the bottom front corner of the motherboard; for diagrams of this, check:
Move the jumper cap from position 1 & 2 to 2 & 3, then plug the system in and power on. The system will boot up to the Maintenance mode. Press the right arrow key on the keyboard to go to the Advance screen, press [F9] to load default. Press the down arrow key to highlight Resource Configuration and press [ENTER]. Highlight IRQ 5 and use you [+] or [-] key to change the option to reserved if it is not already set to that. Press the [ESC] key to go back to the Advance screen. Highlight the option "Reset configuration data", use the [+] or [-] key to change this to Yes, then press the [F10] key to save and exit. Turn system off and unplug it when it gives you the message to return the jumper. Move the jumper back to the 1 & 2 position and restart your system.
