Are you getting the Windows XP boot up menu which is asking to select an operating system to boot or are you getting a notice that requires F1 or F2 to be pressed?  I'm guessing it's the Windows boot menu, but thought I would ask first.  If it is the Windows boot menu do you have more than one copy of Windows installed?

I'm getting the windows boot message asking to select the operating system.  I am not aware of another copy of windows having been installed.  How do I go about finding out?  Appreciate your help.

Click here for another forum discussion regarding the request to boot to two versions of Windows XP.  Follow the steps outlined in that discussion to resolve the problem.

I tried doing what was suggested on the link.  It indicated that all boot INI lines were ok.  I restarted the system but it still started off in having to select the OS.  Hope there are other things to try.  Thanks again for your help.

At this point I would suggest posting in the Software - Windows XP forum.  Since the problem is with the operating system and I am a relatively newbie to Windows XP, that would be the best place for finding additional solutions.  In your posting there you should probably indicate that you have already tried the " check all boot paths" solution and it didn't work.  This will help eliminate getting duplicate suggestions.  You can click here for a direct link to the XP software forum.

go to the control panel, open system folder and click on tab for advanced, and go to settings for startup and recovery. Click on settings,  check and see what is set for the system startup default, or uncheck time to dispaly operating systems.
