Question

Trying to get into the bios.   Tried to hit F12, but nothing comes on the screen.  Tried inserting a floppy disk, but nothing comes on the screen. The first image to appear on the screen is Starting Windows.  I want to format the hard drive.  Any sugestions?

I Believe F2 is bios setup, least it is on my dell xps 710

What system do you have?What operating system Normally  the bios is F2 but on some it is F12  Are you trying to format the main hard drive with the OS installed?

As said above it should be F2. Are you intalling an OS?

I have a Dimension 8300 and trying to format hard drive to reinstall Windows XP.  F2 doesn't work

Dell Logo never appears.  When I tap it My screen stays dark and windows doesn't load.

You never see the Dell screen at the very start of booting up? Even from a cold boot where you push the power button?

you have to press it as soon as you see the big Dell Screen. Tap it a couple of times

That is weird. But yet you say it will boot into windows.  Got me stumped at the moment.
