black screen when installing xp

Hi my destop is xps gen 400.
I have used linux es for several months and now I'm planning to install windows xp.
but after the screen shows "windows is now inspecting your computer's hardware......", black screen appears and no response any more.
I just upgrade the bios but that does not help.
Can anyone tell me how to solve that problem?
thank you in advance.

Thank you.
I solved it now.
I have to reformat the harddisk into fat 32, using some harddisk tools.

Hi, Justin from Rynik Computer Solutions.

Have you returned your hard drive to NTFS. Linux can require hard drive settings that Windows cant read. If that is not the problem then you might want to get hardware tested, most computer shops can test your hardware, the problem is Windows should tell you it cant see the hard drive. is that at the point it fails.

I think your hard drive settings will be the cause

Hope that helps
