Have you both recently "upgraded" to the new Dell Support program?

I uninstalled it, and it seems to have worked (so far...).

I think you found it!   I installed the Dell Support 2.0 last night and this is the first time that I have started the computer since.   That is the only thing that was installed. Thanks for the help!

Hi There, I am having the problem too but can't figure out how to disable our uninstall this dell support system.  In regular mode, the computer won't stay on, it goes to the blue screen.  In safe mode, windows installer won't let me uninstall it?  Any help on how to get rid of this would be great!

Thanks.

I downloaded this link earlier today from another post I saw, installed it, it came up in safe mode and then I ran the .exe and it says "the service has been enabled" so then I went to add and remove programs and tried to remove it and got the same error message saying windows installer wouldn't load.  Is there a different order I need to do to make that program work so I can then uninstall.

The order your describing normally should do it. Not sure if this would work in this scenario but you could try to clean boot the computer so that you could remove the software. You can do this in safe mode

Step 1: Start the System Configuration Utility
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
Step 2: Configure selective startup options
1. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click the General tab, and then click Selective Startup.
2. Click to clear the Process SYSTEM.INI File check box.
3. Click to clear the Process WIN.INI File check box.
4. Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
5. Click the Services tab.
6. Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
7. Click Disable All, and then click OK.
8. When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.

To reverse this just click on normal startup on the first tab of the utility

I have the same problem. Blu screen with PCD5SRVC.PKMS being the cause.
I've found out that PCD5SRVC.PKMS is part of a software named "PC-Doctor"
The last thing i've installed was the new "Dell Support Center". Installing this new "Dell Support Center" was reccomended by the previous "Dell Support" tool.

Can someone from DELL confirm that the "Dell SupportCenter" program uses "PC-Doctor"?

I find it strange that no one from Dell has addressed a root cause solution to Dell Support Center 2 which is the obvious cause to this problem.  Most users are uninstalling the software so their systems still work; pretty sure that was not Dell's intent.

I got same error on Dell Inspiron 6000, Windows XP Home

What I did:
1. Started system in safe mode (see Windows Help for how)
2. Went to My Computer, C: drive, Program Files and renamed "Dell Support Center" folder to "Dell Support CenterX"
3. Restarted computer in normal mode
4. After startup stabilized (and no blue screen), renamed folder back to "Dell Support Center"
5. Using Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, I removed "Dell Support Center"

No problems now.

Simple solution - add another User to Winders so you can sit there for 2 or 3 minutes without logging  in.  Let PC Doctor do it thrashing for those 2 minutes.  Wait for the disk activity to subside, then click on your usual login name.  Nothing to it :smileywink:

P.S. Yes, I feel a 3rd and final uninstall coming too.

That "Let PC Doctor do it's thing" workaround really does work.  I even understand why.  When Windows first starts up, it starts "SPRTSVC" service.  This obviously does a few hardware tests.  If you try and get Messenger and IE7 and ... going at the same time, thud, BSOD.  Wait 2 minutes for the sprtsvc to get done and VOILA, no blue screen of death.

Pretty poor QA before the release!
