bluetooth with HDMI

Running INspiron 23 on windows 8.1.

I connect my XBOX to the HDMI input. Runs great video and audio. The audio on headphones from the headphone port.

However, I wanted to go to a bluetooth wireless headphone. I got a Philips SHB7000. Paired easily to the PC with great sound. However when I switch to HDMI the headphones  do not respond.

Is there a setting in the Dell audio or Windows setting which will let me listen to HDMI sound via the bluetooth headphones?

thanks, wgk

OOPs. I think I misread your post. Please explain exactly what you are doing with HDMI.

YES. Go to the audio icon in the Notification panel. Right click and select playback devices. You can then select HDMI instead of speakers for the output. When done, reset to speakers. I don't know why Microsoft doesn't make this easier. Someone out there has probably written a small program to do it automatically, but I haven't looked for one as I normally use wireless streaming instead of HDMI.

I output via HDMI from my XBOX to the HDMI input on the Dell INspiron. This works wonderfully for audio and video with the audio coming out of the (built in) Dell speakers or to the headphone jack with a wired headphone.

I want to be able to use wireless headphones via bluetooth. I can pair the bluetooth headphone with the Dell and can listen to anything via the bluetooth headphones on the PC side. When I switch to the HDMI input, the bluetooth does not appear to carry the HDMI audio, so I get no sound over the headphones.

When I look at the playback devices (when the bluetooth headphone is turned on) it shows me that the bluetooth headphone is the default speaker system. But I do not see a choice for selecting the source - namely the HDMI input.

thanks

After rereading your post, I thought you might have an Inspiron 1. The only thing I can think of is to go to Recording Devices in the Sound App and see if there is anything there. On a PC with no HDMI input (most!), there is nothing useful in the Recording section. However, maybe there is foe yours. I will do some searching to see what I can find. You may have to just disconnect and stay plugged in.

Another thought: You should have an audio output socket on the xbax and a microphone input on the Inspiron. This might work. You will need tocheck the Audio Control for Recording devices after hooking up.
