Cannot Display This Video Mode

I just turned my computer on after maybe an hour from shutting it down and I get this message on my screen. I tried rebooting and it still appears on the screen. How do I get rid of it and what needs to be done for me to normal video again. Did my video card just go "Tango Uniform"?

I have the same problem and would like a solution.  This happened on my machine after a Windows XP Pro express update.  I attached an old monitor to my PC and found a Windows message that  "Dell Inc. - Video - Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family" update had failed.  I searched the windows update site and found nothing there pertaining to this.  Any ideas, please post.

Thanks.

Try a system restore to an earlier date and then change the auto download to notify

you before installing updates.

Problem caused by Windows Update.

Restart PC and continually tap F8 key

Using Arrow Keys Select Start in Safe Mode

Go to My Computer RIGHT click and select Properties

Select AUTOMATIC UPDATES, Select Disable, select OK

Shut down PC. Restart again tapping F8 key.

Select Enable VGA Mode

On a OPEN space on Desktop RIGHT click; select Properties

Select Settings; Set screen resolution to 1024X768

Select Apply, Yes, Ok

Go to Start and Shut Off PC. Wait 30 seconds and Turn PC back on

All should be good now, leave off Automatic Updates until Microsoft fixes the problem with their system

If you didn't purchase the add on video card (Radeon X300 SE), then yes, the 4700 and the 4700C Intel driver is the same.

Mr. Chris>

This is good info but you need to get a "video screen visual" first so you can see to get on the I-Net to get your message and download. See my previous posting. The Dimension 4700C was not listed in your posting is the driver the same for the 4700?

Chris,

Thanks for the info.  You finally solved my problem.  Is it possible for the phone customer support folks to also have this info?  I spent over an hour on the phone with someone yesterday who was never able to remedy the situation other than doing a system restore.  That worked, but only until I shut down again at which time the problem started all over.  I am surprised that I was able to find more info about this issue than the Dell Tech.
