Cannot display video mode?

Question

Hi, first post and I have very basic knowledge of computer systems ! Anyway, someone took my Dimension 2350 and adjusted a few bits and bob's but when it returned it occasionally displays "cannot display video mode" can anyone help me rectify this problem? I know it's probably very basic but it's annoying and the person involved is currently on holiday.

Thanks, It happens when the computer is on but always after I return to the computer after a break!!

JDarbz, Welcome to the Dell Community Forum (DCF). Does this occur when the computer is off and the monitor is on?

Also, I can tell when it's going to happen as when I return and move the mouse the screen goes black instead of to the programme I was using and displays 'cannot display video mode'. If I move the mouse left and right quickly though I can sometimes rescue it and it returns to my previously used programme.
