Cannot load HP printer software

Hello,
I am in need of someone telling me how to load a HP deskjet f300 series onto a Dimension 2400
I purchased the new printer last saturday and it still is not working.  It keeps giving me the error
"required section not found in the INF"  I have talked to HP and dell..no one knows what to do.
I have read where Win xp blocks certain programs from loading.
Can anyone please tell what to do so I can have a working printer again!!!:smileysad:

It would be easier to help also knowing the exact model printer you have? HP sells(9) F300 series printers.

Have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling the printer software?

Skip the HP software or remove it and just attach the printer. Some older HP printers use the generic XP drivers and cannot use the old HP software. My ancient C820 runs just fine--even better than it did before--by not installing the old software. HP Support  has directions on their site for installing printers in XP. Visit the site to get the updated software and drivers for your all in one: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=us&cc=us&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_pagetype=s-002&h_query=F300&submit.x=8&submit.y=3

I have tried everything under the earth and sun ..

I have uninstalled and reinstalled...

I have the original HP Deskjet F300 printer..I am probably going to take it back to office depot tomorrow and get my money back.

I will just have to buy a Dell printer online...

Mary,,,

Just as before..it is not working..it goes into the print que as printing to the printer but it never does!!

I am just so so tired of trying for a whole week.  HP support people can't even help me and Dell wants to use AOL as the information..I don't have or want AOL !

I am at my wits end about this...:smileysad:

i would take a careful look at differing printers before going with a brand since some like HP make their money from ink and not the printer itself.... eg 100$ printer has extensive $$$ inks..
