cannot open control panel
i cannot open the control panel, when i try to open it nothing happens, the hour glass pops up and then just goes away without opening, so i try from my computer and the same happens, i have a dell 4550 dimension, 2.53 ghz, windows xp, less the 2 mouths old. help! thanks

Give this a try,,,,,,i dont know that this will fix your problem ,,,,,,,,,,,,but no harm done if dont.
Click start> then run>type cmd>hit ok
In the dos box that comes up type> sfc /SCANNOW>hit enter ****note space between c /
A small (scale running) dialog box will appear and you may be asked to insert your windows CD (for file checking/repairing ),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, keep hitting retry" ,,,,,,,,,,,,as files are scanned and checked till,,,,,,,, the small dialog box scale completes and goes away.
Close out the dos window and try opening your control pannel. Pls post back,either way,,,so we can know for others who may have a similar problem ,,,,,or try something else.
