I am having no luck opening up jpeg and mime type files. I really donot have a clue what is going on. And i really need a good reference point to begin.

You need to have a program associated with those files to open them. Internet Explorer will do it if you are using it. To make the association, find one of those files in Windows Explorer. Left-click to select it, the Shift-right-click and choose "Open With" from the menu that appears. Scroll down the list of applications until you find Internet Explorer. Select it then check the box at the bottom that says "Always use this program to open this type of files" and you should be in business.

Apologies for the delay in response, your message had crept so far down the board I didn't find it right away.
If all you are being offered as a choice is "Open" you didn't hold down the Shift key when you right-clicked on the file (after left-clicking on it to select it and highlight it). The Shift-right-click will give you the menu with the "Open with..." option. Acrobat would be no help at all, it only opens files with the .pdf extension.
