Cat messed up some keys on my keyboard -- help

My cat messed up some keys on my keyboard.  I uninstalled the keyboard software and reinstalled hoping that would help - it didn't.  When I press the letter that comes after U , I get a print selection screen - so it is almost as if there is a macro??  Also, my number 1 key on top of the alpha keys doesn't type out - I get a weird tilda thingy??  What should I attempt to do next?

I run on Dell Desktop INSP 530 and use MS Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard.  I know this will make some of you laugh and some of you mad -- I am not an uber techy -- I use the computer for the basics.  But I at least learned my lesson and now put the keyboard into a drawer when I am away from the desk.

Thanks

I'm not sure I can solve this for you but lets start with a few basics.

What country are you in?

Why did you uninstall the software for the keyboard when there was physical damage to the keyboard (I assume physical damage is what you are talking about). I would have expected you to just repair the physical damage and leave the software alone.

What did you do to 'repair' the physical damage before you uninstalled and re-installed the keyboard software? Did you physically remove keys from the keyboard?

Are the two malfunctioning keys the only ones that malfunction or are others working incorrectly and if so which ones and how?

The mind absolutely boggles at what your cat did, and no, I don't want you to go into any further details :emotion-6:

You didn't say what language keyboard you had, so it may be a bit difficult for anyone to help you - the keys are in different positions for different languages and the upper case numerics are different as well. Are you sure you reinstalled the correct software and set up Windows to recognise the corect keyboard?

I don't know how to tell what language??  -- please bear with me -- I don't profess to be intelligent when it comes to IT and hardware configurations.  I did a complete uninstall that was included on the software menu from MicroSoft.  I know it was the right software as there is only one keyboard I set up on this desktop and one software.  I went into the options menu for the keyboard and checked all the Fcn keys and shortcuts -- I told it to default to factory.  Still nothing.  Any thoughts?
