If you are having no troubles there is no need. The chipset driver, sometimes called the chipset installation utility, has a host of files intended for a number of Intel chipsets. The update may have nothing to do with the particular computer you are using. On the other hand it should not give you a problem, either, other than to possibly cause you additional work. Occasionally when you update the chipset driver you must reinstall the other drivers that depend upon it, primarily sound.
The list of what the update is supposed to do is below the download box. If you have one of these problems perhaps you would do well to install it. For your convenience I have copied it below:
Features Added
1. Added support for Intel 975X Express Chipset.
2. Updated README file to include support for targeted chipsets and OS Service Pack requirements.
3. Added CSVer.dll which contains version information (Major.Minor.Hotfix.Build)
Fixes
1. It fixes issue with USB keyboard/mouse hang until reboot while installing.
2. It fixes yellow bang in USB controller in Device Manager on a system with USB keyboard/mouse while installing.
3. It fixes a bug where a 3rd party SMBus driver was being overwritten.
4. It fixes Installshield issue with silent mode.
5. It fixes issue in PCIUtility.sys during install on 64-bit OS.
6. It fixes untranslated language strings.
One other note; given that it was released in April, 2006, you may already be using it if you have had occasion to reinstall your operating system or if your computer is newer than that.

Thanx for the info.....I had saved it to my desktop..I thank you again... Now I can delete it...
One other question..........You got any advice on these DELL updates... Like which ones are the most important... I see that some are posted as urgent but really 'don't pertain to this system...
I enter my service tag and thats what they have for this system......
The final decision with regard to the urgency of any update rests with the owner of the computer. The installation of any software, firmware, or driver, always has the possibility that it will be incompatible with your system configuration. I generally follow the rule "if it isn't broken, don't fix it."
To my mind there are two instances that make an update urgent; the first is if the update corrects a problem or provides support needed by one or more of your applications. This case will be self evident to you since you will be having trouble and likely be seeking help. The second is if the update deals with security from viruses and other malware. In this case you may not know you have a problem unless you encounter the virus and most of us would, I think, rather apply the fix before it becomes necessary to recover a corrupted system.
