Clock Slow

I had to reformat my computer at the beginning of June. Since then I've noticed my clock in the sys tray has been off by sometimes up to a half hour. If I restart my computer the correct time comes up. I've tried the suggestion of going through the BIOS to correct the system clock but found it to be correct so I don't know why the clock is slow. I've also read that the Norton Antivirus has conflicted with the clock...does McAfee as well? I'm just hoping I don't end up having to do another reformat. Thanks for your help:-) Teresa

Hi,

This is easy to fix. Go to World Time Server http://www.worldtimeserver.com and download Atomic Clock Sync, which is free. When you run this program, it will query the atomic clock at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. If the difference is more than 15 seconds, it will automatically adjust your system’s clock. Windows has this feature built-in. In the Control Panel, open the Date and Time icon. Then, click the tab marked Internet Time and be sure there is a check mark before "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server."

Hi Teresa,

I use
Rocket.Time. It is
a free small program that will reset your Windows clock and keep it
accurate to the second.
It works great with all Windows including XP.
It is a better design than (Atomic clock) for Rocket.Time will reset your clock as
often as you desire. Atomic clock only allows one setting each day.
One setting a day wasn't enough to keep my clock accurate, I have Rocket. Time
setup to reset every 4 hours. Rocket.Time comes with an uninstall.
I tried both of them.

Thanks,
Teresa

Hi. Thanks for the response. I guess I should have noted that I have Windows 98 not XP. The only thing I get when I go to adjust my clock is the date/time tab. There is no internet sync.

Hi Teresa,

From Rocket.Time site:

"If you are a PC user running Windows, you can download this lightweight Atomic Clock program free of charge. This utility will bring atomic clock accuracy to your computer and we offer it with our compliments."

I have Rocket.Time running on W-95 and XP.

I had the same problem with XP that was set on the Windows.time.gov but it never could connect properly. I tried the Rocket time and as I looked in the Error Logs today I find a hundred or so errors where the auto clock could not make contact with Rocket Time. Anyone have a RELIABLY site address to put in place of the Windows.time ?
