would I do that in add/remover programs?

It says Standard PCI graphics adapter (VGA). In driver file details it says VGA.DRV and vmm32.vxd (vdd.vxd)

It is not recognizing your video card.  Since you have done a fresh
install of XP, did you install the Chipset yet?

In the Device manager, uninstall the Display Adaptor then reboot and allow re-detection of the hardware.  Clickk the (+) next to Display Adaptor and right-click device and select Uninstall.

When I think about it, the chipset is probably there.  Uninstall
your Display Adapter and let the system re-detect it.  Do you remember
what video card was there?  Nvidia?

honestly, I never thought to look at it before.

What do you mean by "standard PCI graphics adapter".  The 8100 came with an AGP card.
Look in the Device Manager and tell us what is listed under Display Adapter.

Hover your cursor over Product Support at the top of this page and select Downloads
and Drivers.  Enter your data and then select Windows ME.  When you get to the Downloads
select Chipset and run it.  It is here ..........

Glad to here that.  Now you should be able to ID your video card and install the correct driver for it.

Yes, after installing the operating system the first thing to do is install
the Chipset.  At the top of the page, hover your cursor over Product Support
and select Downloads & Drivers.  Enter your information and it will lead
to the Downloads.
