Common Name Toolbar error message...need help please.
When I start up my pc I get this message, "Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~2\TOOLBAR\CNBabe.dll The system cannot find the file specified." I have Windows ME. Started getting this after a windows update from microsoft. Can anyone tell me what this is and how to correct it?

You have a parasite. A description of Common Name and what it does can be found at:
http://www.safersite.com/PestInfo/C/CommonName.asp
You can get rid of this along with any other spyware and similar parasites by downloading, installing, and running SpyBot Search & Destroy, available at:

I've search microsoft.com for CNBabe.dll but there is no definition available. So therefore this has nothing to do with the windows update. Microsoft always has a documentation for its dll files. Maybe you have downloaded a file or program from the web associated with this file.
To keep this message from appearing, remove it in your startup files.
Click Start - Run
type MSConfig
Click startup tab - look for the program on the list that has "c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~2\TOOLBAR\CNBabe.dll"
uncheck it, click ok and restart.

i also suggest that you run antivirus program to make sure that this not caused by a virus/ hoax.

Thanks to all for the help. I was able to remove the program from my pc and this resolved the issue. They say it is not spy ware, but they do have a record of what sites I have visited and the info exchanged there, so I removed it.
Thanks again for the help.
