1) Computers tend to use the cheapest possible clock to keep the overall price down. Unfortunately they aren't too accurate.
2) Many programs adjust the clock to slow the program to acceptable levels. A program can either be written to run as fast as possible, or to run at the speed of the computer clock. When computers become faster some programs run too fast. The programs that run at the speed of the clock sometimes slow the clock to make them run at a normal speed.

Wow, there have been a lot of similar complaints about slowing clocks lately.

If the above solution doesn't do the trick, try the free Atomic Clock Sync utility, available here. It keeps your clock within +/- 5 seconds.

I had the same problem, running WIN-XP on my new 8200.

I disabled the "Automatically synchronize with an internet time server" feature, and my system clock hasn't lost a second since I made the change over a week ago.

If this applies to your setup......

Doubleclick on the time in the system tray
Click the INTERNET TIME tab
Uncheck the "Automatically synchronize with an internet time server" checkbox

Not sure why this fix works or why the synchronization feature causes the problem in the first place.

Hope this helps you.
