computer keeps locking up

I am not sure where to post this because I am not sure what the problem is.

Problem started 2 days ago, I am lucky if I can keep logged on to my computer 5 minutes before it locks up.  We have removed most of our downloads and I have tried to fragmentize, but it say there is only 2 0/0 of space and I need 15 0/0.

I have a Dimension 4300S, Pentuim 4 processor with 256 ram

Please advise

When it's locking up, what are the colors of the diagnostic lights on the back of the tower.

It sounds like you hard drive is FULL.  To operate Windows, you need 10% of the drive space free (Swap file n such require free space)  If you don't have free space for a defrag, then it is very likely you have a drive that is nearing capacity.

Go to system tools & run disk cleanup

it can be from the cpu temp.
check your cpu fan and watch it with
a probe (temp. controler).

I can't seem to clear more than 2 0/0 space, I am wondering if I added more RAM would this fix the problem?
