If u leave the pc on, it may overheat which could cause you problems. Another annoying problem is that when you leave a pc on for a length of time, it creates a log file which will fill up your hard drive. Windows has a shutdown option, i would advise you to use it. Regards

Hi,
It will not hurt your system in any way to leave it on 7-24.
It will not hurt your system to turn it off and on a few times a day.
But if you don't use it all the time you will just waste electricity

fishermande.
Hope you will find the information in this article on the "on-off question" useful. Personally I turn them off when I'm away from the computer for while, out of the house and always at nights, unless I'm download something.

Agreed. At night I shut it down, or when I know I'll be outta the house for more than a couple hours. Not worth running it if you know it's just gonna sit there all day.
I wasn't as careful with my 4300, but I'd like this one to stay in top shape!

2 other good reasons. If you have a dusty house, the longer it runs the more clogged the fans and heatsinks will get with dust. Dust is the enemy.
The other is memory. No version of windows is perfect, and generally the longer it runs, the closer you get to having programs start crashing. If you start with a fresh boot everyday you're more likely to enjoy a fast system.
