Check inside if the powersupply-plug to your motherboard is still connected;
this is the multi-color whires comming from your powersupply and is connected through one connector-plug onto your motherboard. When I got my XPS-T700 the system was Dead On Arrival (Same "nothing happening when pushing the front ON-button": got the fright of my life). Called Techsupport and they asked me very calm if maybee the powerconnector had been shaked down during transportation (seamed to happen more often) Hu..........
Try pushing the button under the start button, I had the same problem..push start and nothing happen. Then hit the lower and the system started up..same as if asleep even after being powered down.
