Connecting Wireless Keyboard to KVM switch

I recently replaced my computer with a Dell Dimension 8400 with the multimedia wireless keyboard. I absolutely love the computer and keyboard but I can't figure out how to connect the keyboard to my KVM switch.

I have a Belkin two port KVM switch I use to connect my work laptop and my home computer to the same monitor/keyboard.

That was straight forward with the PS2 wiring from my previous computer. The 8400, however, has the wireless keyboard and the IR receiver plugs into the computer via a USB connection. I"ve looked high and low for a two-prong male PS2-to-female USB adapter so I could connect the IR receiver to the KVM switch.

Does such an adapter exist? Or am I going about this completely wrong?

Greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Tony

I have run into the same issue. The only work around I have found is to purchase a new KVM with USB connetors instead of the PS2. Belin makes the OMNI View in a USB.

I have the same dilema.  Have a Dimension 8400 with wireless keyboard and mouse.  IR transmitter with single USB.  I also use a KVM for work computer and Dimension.  My current KVM is a Belkin PS/2 version.

Rather than an adapter, I'm looking at upgrading the KVM to a Belkin USB KVM (F1DK102U).  I know Belkin KVM's are quirky at times.  Any known issues with this model and the Dell wireless keyboard and mouse?  Wondering if it will recognize both keyboard and mouse.  KVM has a separate USB for each device but the transmitter consolidates these in a single USB.  Logic and my spidey sense says this will work without a problem but want to make sure before buying the KVM.

System 1:  Dell Dimension 8400 with (310-4164 Wireless Keyboard/mouse Dim)

System 2:  IBM Thinkpad T23

KVM:  Belkin USB KVM model F1DK102U (with audio)
