Control Panel Missing

Question

When I go to the start menu for the control panel it is missing, I have also lost my administrative rights.  I know I had a virus and I downloaded the Mcafee free virus scan now I can't delete any programs through the control panel.  I'm not that proficient with computers, so I don't know what to do.

Have you tried running a System Restore point to a recent date when all was well?  May or may not work for you, but always worth a try.

Does right click work for you? What about using the windows key on the keyboard? You won't be able to do a restore unless you can get some way to the files. Did you try safe mode? And you may need to start from the reinstallation cd and do a repair

None of the suggestions worked? Not even the repair? Reinstallation may be your only hope. Maybe fixable but beyond your scope

There was another guy having your very same problem, as was I.  I followed the procedure that was offered to him and it worked.  It also worked for him.  To see this post and solution, just do a search on 'missing control panel' and look for a post by a guy named Ni Ni.   Good luck.
