CPU displays wrongly
I have a Celeron 2.8ghz CPU but my Bios (GX60 A08) says it is only a 1.4ghz and Windows XP displays it as P4 2.8ghz 1.4ghz.
Checked processor and can make out 2.8 on the chip. What's going on???

You did not say what system you had nor did you say what model stepping and Revision of cpu you had.
An 800mhz FSB cpu that is put into a 400mhz only board will show 1.4Ghz vs 2.8Ghz due to being Underclocked.
All pentium4's are not the same. Some have 400mhz, some 533mhz, some 800mhz.

He also claims for a Celeron, rather than the P4.
But you also mention P4.
Do you know which it is? If not, running CPU-Z will tell you.

Here is CPU-Z log dump. Sorry my mistake CPU is P4 2.8 but shows as 1.4 in bios and 2.8 but running 1.4 in XP. (cut out port & usb info and some other so as not to make a long page, if needed to diagnose can repaste).

No worries. Will make do with a Celeron 2.8ghz/128/400 I have and put the P4 back in the system it came from.
