CPU temperature program?

Are there any programs that will monitor cpu temperature on the dell 8200's?

I read somewhere else none of the dell MB's have temp sensors on them but I thought I would check anyway.

I know the PIV's will regulate their temp automatically but it would be nice to monitor them anyway.

Thanks

Since Dell's motherboards do not have temperature sensors, there is no way to monitor the temperature. Software that does this looks at the temperature sensors.

I am not sure what Intel Board is used on the 8200 series but on the 4400 series it is the D845PT with the difference of having 4 pci slots & no CNR slot and no temperature sensors vs. Inte version having 3 pci & 1 CNR Slot Temperature sensors on it. There could be a possibility of the board having onboard but disable in the bios and Dell bios written so you can not access it. I used the Intel Active monitor with a blank panel for temperature.

Follow up to last message I had replied to:

Dell Dimension use the following board -

Board: Intel Corporation D845PT AAA67834-304

According to Intel's web site on this board it has temperature sensors on the board for use with Intel's Active Monitor. I had called intel support which told me to call dell and that dould tell the changes to board made for dell contract.
Dell was a little more helpful in the saying the board has the thermal protection circuit for the cpu on to protect from over heating and if a failure the diagnostic leds in the rear should indicate the failure code.

Summary - Board has this capability on it but i s disabled in the bios ( can not turn it on as this is not a visible option) for monitoring purpose by software as per Dell contract specification with Intel. Since the intended market for this system really intended for power users who like to dig around their systems.
If you build your on P4 system with a boxed Intel board or one of the other suppliers you would have this cability.

I added a 20gb 7200 & 30gb 5400rpm hard drive with a Hard drive cooler mounted to the 20gb and slot fan for the video card (it has no heat sinks on - not a bright idea unless Dell under clocks the card), 56k modem, 10/100 3com card, scsi card and bay fan, and 128mb more ram to the stock 128mb/40gb 7200rpm/16x10x40 cdrw system. The system has been running non-stop for 5 days (on an ups) with the exhaust barely warm.
