Dell Dimension 2400, multiple Code 10 errors
I have a dimension 2400, recently I took out the wireless adapter I had because I needed it in another computer (yes I uninstalled it properly), shortly after that stuff stopped working. I get code 10 messages for the following:
Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated controller
Lynksis Wireless G PCI adapter
Multimedia Audio Controler
and it doesn't even recognize my NVIDIA graphic card installed. all of this worked before. I have tried many things and not thing worked, here is what I have done so far.
Uninstalled/reinstalled hardware in the Hardware Manager
Updated all drivers
and in an act of desperation - reformatted the hard drive and installed the appropriate chip set drivers.
Still -CODE 10 Device cannot start-
Please help, I'm losing my mind with this and warranty has run out!
thank you in advance!

Edit: I see I took too long and Yogesh managed a good solution. Apologies for the interruption.
Code 10 problems are normally software related. Are you certain you performed a clean installation? Your complaint indicates that you performed a repair.
Did you purchase your computer after July, 2004? If so, and you haven't deleted it in your attempts to reinstall, you might be able to get the Dell Restore Partition working. See this page: Inside the Dell PC Restore Partition by Dan Goodell. Pay special attention to the section marked Troubleshooting the Restore Process. If you have it, and you can repair it, you should be able to get your machine up and running in about twenty minutes using the CTRL_F11 process.
If you bought your D2400 before about September, 2004, and you accepted the standard os, you should have received a Windows XP Home with Service Pack 1a installation disk. You should also have a Dell Resource disk with the drivers. Unless your Windows disk already includes it you should make or otherwise obtain a CD having the Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 update. I'm a bit cautious and haven't updated to Service Pack 3 myself, but most people I've heard from have had no trouble with it. If you have a high speed connection I recommend this page for Service Pack 2: Service Pack 2
To start, make sure you are booting from the Windows installation CD. Either tap F12 at the Dell screen that comes up right after starting the computer to use the one time boot menu, or F2 in order to go to setup and select CD ROM as the first device in the boot order. It has been a while since I've done this, but either method may have additional directions on the screen so that you must confirm that you wish to boot from CD ROM. If you don't follow the instructions you may find that you are trying to boot from the hard drive.
Once you have booted from the CD you should delete the existing C: partition. If you have an older D2400 like mine you will have only two partitions; the first is a small, 50 MB or so, FAT partition that has the Dell diagnostic routines on it. The much larger NTFS partition is the one that must be deleted so that Windows setup will create a new one and perform a new installation of Windows into it. If you wish to have additional partitions setup will allow you to create new ones as soon as you have deleted the original C: partition to get unallocated space. If you only want a single partition you can simply direct setup to install Windows into the unallocated space. You may have to select the file system; this should be NTFS. If you are installing into a partition larger than 32 GB, NTFS will be your only choice. Once you've made the selection setup should create a new partition from the unallocated space, format it, and begin installing Windows XP, requiring about thirty to forty-five minutes.
Once you have a Windows installation, put your Resource Disk into the drive and allow the application to install. From the menu on the left select the Dimension 2400. From the menu at the top, select Drivers. At this point you should get a screen showing a list of drivers; the drivers that the application thinks you need will have a checkmark or " X " to the left of the name. You must select each driver one at a time by double clicking the name and clicking "Open" in order to get the compressed file to expand, copy the necessary files to the hard drive, and start the driver installation wizard. Begin with the chipset, follow that with the network and sound drivers. If you have a modem, use the separate driver disk that should have accompanied your computer to install it at this point. You should restart the computer after each installation so that the Windows registry is updated properly. You will need to restart the Resource CD after each boot, either by ejecting and re-inserting the CD or by using the "Run" command from the start menu to start "Autorun" on the CD.
I omitted the video driver above because you have a PCI graphics card. If your Windows installation CD already has Service Pack 2 you should install the video driver immediately after the chipset driver. If your CD has Service Pack 1a some of the PCI video card drivers have difficulty installing until after you have updated to at least Service Pack 2. Assuming you have Service Pack 1a, perform the Service Pack 2 update after you have installed the drivers in the previous paragraph. Follow that by installing the driver for your PCI video card.
When you have gotten to this point you should install a good antivirus. Connect to the internet, update the antivirus program, and follow that update with a visit to Windows updates so you can properly update Windows XP.
And that will be that. I have used this process more than a dozen times to reinstall Windows on the three D2400's in my care, and it has worked every time. The only caution I would give you is that since you removed a piece of hardware it might be a good idea to reset the NVRAM by removing the small back-up lithium cell in the lower front corner of the main board for about fifteen minutes. Don't forget to put it back in after you wait the necessary time!
Good luck!
