ive read that am3 cpu's are backwards compatible to am2 motherboards but am3 motherboards arent compatible with am2 socket cpu's , if thats true would this cpu be ideal if that is true

That processor isn't supported by the E521, because it's an AM3 socket. Only AM2 socket processors, like a Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0Ghz 89W Windsor, will work. Problem is this processor an others like it are no longer made. You're only chance of finding one is on an auction site like eBay. Besure to look for an 89W, not an 125W version of this processor. The 125W is too hot for your integrated heatsink.

They're backwards compatible if the BIOS supports the CPU. In this case it doesn't. You have to remember Dell is in the business to selling computers, so upgrade possibilities is limited for a reason.

Hello folks I hope this help to everybody with the same problem :
The Dell Dimension in this case e521 Its made just for Semphron and Athlon II x2 Processors I will Suggest use for this game an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ or Higher its a CPU 2.7GHZ FSB 1000 should be enough, I recommend use for this game more than 2GB of Memory Ram in this case you can use a 1GB DDR2 FSB 800 per slot and you gonna need a better Video Card the Radeon 5450 is low profile
hope this help
