DELL OPTIPLEX GX620 PROCESSOR UPGRADATION QUERY
Hello Geeks,
I have confusion regarding upgradation of processor on my DELL Optiplex GX620 (SFF) machine. My processor is Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz, HT and want to replace it to Intel Pentium D 960 3.6 Ghz 800 FSB processor. My queries are
Is this processor will require upgradation of heat sink for better heat dessipation or currently will be sufficient???
Can I replace the existing processor with Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.6 Ghz E2140 Processor (800 FSB LGA 775 Socket)???
Suggest the best processor upgrade for optimal and enhance performance of the machine GX620???

Yes, you'll need a new heatsink.

The only Dual core parts you can use are Pentium D and only the 2.8Ghz versions with that size due to power supply limits. The Aluminum Heatsink must be replaced with Copper Heatpipe version for Pentium D processors and BIOS must be A11.
