Dell solution Center - help

Just got my Dimension 8200 with Win XP and Dell solution center V 2.0.x. when I run "System Configuration for you Dell Computer" the progress bar gets to 9% then I get the error " all.part2 is null or not an object." Dell telephone technical support was not able to help, their only answer was to re-install solution center. NO HELP THERE !!!

What External hardware is connected to the system? I have heard of HP Photosmart printers causing this.

Just to let you know that you're not alone. I've been trying to solve/resolve this problem with my 8200 for over a month, to no avail. I've tried uninstalling DSC from the Control Panel (which shows Version 1) and then downloading from Dell.Support.Com Version 2, but it keeps coming up in the Control Panel as Version 1. In any event, Dell phone support proved of no help on this one. I even went so far as unstalling and reinstalling Windows XP (without a glitch), but to no avail. I've also downloaded all the Windows XP updates, but they haven't helped. Please let me know, if you learn anything. People on this and Dell Windows XP talk have offered some thoughts, but none seem to do it. Good luck. Bob

What external device do you have installed (cameras, printer etc).

I had my Palm IIIc cradle attached to the serial port. removed it, and tried again - same problem.

thanks for the web site info. At least I know it is not a hardware problem with my PC - just a Bill Gates issue.
