dem 4100 boot problem

i have a dem 4100 when i start it it stops at dell info page says to hit delete to continue ran a hard drive diagnostic test only thing that failed was smart attribute check what is it and do i  need new hard drive                                thanks for any help

Hi, Kindly elaborate on the scenario, what is the error displayed on the hard drive diagnostics also what is the complete error you get while booting normally.

when i start  my computer it stops on the page with the list of whats on my computer and  says hit delete to continue when i  hit delete then it  loads windows. seen another post with same problem they  were told  to run diagnostics so  i ran 1 everything passed except  smart attribute check i didn't see anything saying why it  failed or error code  i'm a computer idiot if you need more info let me know what and i will try  to find it
