I have boot a 4550 from a flash drive. The 4550 should be a bit newer than your 4100.
I looked in the docs for the 4100 and don't see any options for booting from USB. If you have a bootable USB flash drive, plug it in and press F12 at boot. If your machine can boot from it, the drive should appear as a boot option.
Mjm1231, back when the 4100 model was new, USB was in it's infancy and options related to USB booting in the BIOS were unheard of. The best you are going to be able to do is try enabling the BIOS option for Legacy USB Support and then see if the system recognizes the flash drive on boot up. The
Legacy USB Support option can be found in the
Peripheral Configuration sub-menu of the
Advance tab.
Thanks to everyone for your comments. The BIOS does not support hitting F12 for a boot menu. It does have options to boot from ARMD-FDD or ARMD-HDD, which I would have thought would allow booting from a USB device, but apparently this is not the case.
