I couldn't find an edit button, but i just realized i forgot a few things. The button is a steady yellow, not blinking, and for the life of me i cannot find the A B C D LED's. Where are they?
Test the power supply by unplugging the 20 pin connector from the motherboard and jumping the Green wire to one of the Black wires, if power supply and/or case/processor fans run, then you know it's good.
If the above checks out, reconnect the power supply, then remove all the PCI cards, the video card and memory, disconnect the IDE and FD cables, check that the front panel cable is connected to motherboard, with nothing else connected to the case, except the power cable, then power the system on. If you do not get any beep codes or no LEDs in the back, then it would appear that motherboard has died.
Ok, well i've reseated the CPU twice already, so i dont' think that it is that. Anybody have any info on the powersupply issue. Here are the Dell computers i have sitting here with PSU's. I have this 4300s, L600R, and a P1 in a box somewhere. What if i try to the power the computer with no CPU, that may sound stupid, but are there any symptoms that might show that that is the problem? Obviously it won't turn on but is there something else to look for? Also the diagnostic lights don't show anythign when i hit the power button. Could it be the MB? I was also thinking possible the circuit board in teh front of the case that connects to the power button...
ok thx for your help. Idk what i'm gonna do because i'm hesitant to pay for a PSU if something else could be bad too. Plus i guess ill have to get a Dell brand PSU, and thats gonna be overpriced by a bit. Anyway thx for the help. I really appreciate it.

wright100,
The D-4300s systems have the diagnostic LEDs on the back panel

A steady amber power light, generally means there is something wrong with the CPU, try reseating the CPU in its socket.

The 4300s uses this PSU.

You can buy a replacement by calling, Dell Spare Parts @ 1-800-357-3355 option 4, M-F 7 to 7 CDT and have the system's "Service Tag" handy.
