Dimension 4500 PSU Problem :(

Hey All, I plan on buying a new GeForce 7600 256 card as an update on my old Dimension 4500. The problem is the fact that it requires quite a bit of power to run. I've been told that I can get away with it on the stock Dell 250 PSU that I have, but here's the slight problem. When looking at the back of my machine at the power supply, there's a little switch. One side says 115, the other 235. If I leave it on the 115 side, everything is fine. But the instant that I bring the orange switch to the 235 side, my machine is DOA and won't start. Whatsoever. I'm concerned about attempting to run this new card. HELP!!! ~ Scooter

If you reside in the US, then the red toggle voltage selector should be set at 115v and when you set it to 230v, then system WILL not operate.

If you reside in the UK,etc, then it should be set to 230v.

Why are you changing the setting?

Bev.

I think that the person thinks that it means how much watts you are setting it to. That's not true, you leave it to your area's settings.

So it controls Volts, not Watts. Heh, I'm an idiot. Oh well, lesson learned.
