Dimension 8200 how much memory?

I am planning to buy the Dimension 8200. It comes with 256M PC800 memory standard. Is this enough or should I get 512M. I will be doing some video editing. Also, I am planning to get the GeForce 4 4200 with 64M. I have seen this card with 128M, but not from Dell. Does it make much difference with 64M? Is the GeForce 4600 a lot faster?

Thanks

512 mb would be better. As far as the video card the gf4 ti4200 is a better buy than the ti4600.the 64mb card is actually faster than the 128 but the 128 will be able to play games farther into the future as games coming out later will require 64mb minimums.

I've got 512megs of memory and the Geforce4 Ti4600 128 Meg video. Couldn't be happier with the system. My specs are below. I came from a laptop, also below, so you can see why I was so happy with the performance. Going from a 16meg laptop video to 128 megs and a 19" LCD was quite a change.

One thing I will recommend to you........DO NOT BUY A CD BURNER FROM DELL. Buy your own, aftermarket, and save yourself the aggravation of so many people in the "CD/DVD" Devices board who can't get their burners to burn at fully rated speed, or to work at all for that matter. I bought the TDK VeloCD 40x12x48, rated number 1 by PCWORLD, PCMAG, and CNET, to name a few. It's white, not black, so what. It works beautifully, and some model paint took care of the white bezel no problem.

And don't go cheap on the hard drive, either. Get either the 80 gig 7200 RPM, or the 120 gig with the 8 meg buffer. I don't think Dell is selling the 8 meg buffer in 80 gig style yet.

Good Luck with your purchase

512. My CD burner from Dell kicks butt, no problems. My advice would be to order over the phone.
