Dual Processor Upgrade for 470

I'm looking to purchase a second processor for my Precision 470 (currently has a single 3.4Ghz Xeon) but have read lots of problems people have encountered when doing this, from slow running apps to crashing OS's.
 
Can anyone offer me some helpful advice on how to successfully upgrade my workstation and avoid any unforseen problems.

I have sourced a second processor listed as a 'Intel Xeon EM64T 3.4Ghz 800Mhz FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 604' which is identical to the processor already in the PC. Is there anything else I need to consider when purchasing a second processor for my system?
 
Any comments appreciated.
