I did a little bit of research on it when I upgraded the RDRAM in my system. I did have 128Mb of PC700 ECC. But now I have 512 PC800 Non-ECC.
I felt I would see more performance gains by getting the faster RAM rather than spending the extra for the ECC.

The slightly longer answer: If you wish to replace what you already have, then you have to decide wether ECC is worth the extra money for you.
Most home PC user would never see a difference between one and the other.
ECC, from what I understand, is more useful for systems that do SERIOUS number crunching, and for database servers and the like, and that the average home system user would never see much benefit from having it.
Im running 512Mb PC800 Non-ECC at the moment.
