Hi, I pulled the plug out of the wall, then I removed the video card and plugged my monitor in on the normal port, I then connected the power again and switched it on, it gave me a blank screen. Guess the computer can’t start without the card?
I cleaned the card wiping off the dust, it had slightly dust on, you can’t really see it and wiped the connectors clean (no dust, I used a white cloth and saw nothing)
Pulled the plug again, placed the card back into its original place and connected the power again. I switched it on and to my surprise it started loading the BIOS, and hanged. I restarted the computer and now it like if its working fine.
If the CODE shows again sometime should I replace the card or should I buy a new PC? I like the Optiplex 745, because I’m so used to it and can work it with closed eyes. Any suggestions on what computer I should buy next, I use it for my photography reasons so ill need something that is quick loading and fast? And ill have to upgrade my computer soon.
I appreciate your technical expertise as you reseated the video card and got the issue resolved by yourself. I would suggest you to continue using the same computer as you are very much comfortable with it. However, for your information, we have new system models (Desktops and Laptops) released with the latest configuration that would be more fast and quick.
But if the issue reoccurs, it might be a video hardware issue. We could confirm it by performing diagnostics on the video card. The video card needs to be replaced if the test fails.
You could initiate diagnostics by tapping F12 at the system startup. The One-time boot menu appears. Select “Diagnostics” option to perform the complete hardware diagnostics for your computer.
For more information on how to initiate diagnostics, visit the web link below:
If test on any component fails, please reply with the error code and message, if any displayed. We could help you replace the required hardware part(s) for your computer, if it’s covered under warranty.
You could check the warranty for your computer by visiting www.support.dell.com and select “Warranty Status” option listed under “Product Support” on the left pane of the window.
We could also help you replace the part(s), if the computer does not have a active warranty, with a fee.
You could also send me a direct message with the Service Tag of your computer so I could check the warranty and help you further.
The link http://dell.to/KPPW6t you posted, opens Dell's www.dell.com Sales page, not the technical documents relating to using diagnostics.

But they're "required" to use dell.to links even though Dell knows these shortened URLs currently don't work, and I've already mentioned that problem in this very thread, but da rules is da rules.... :emotion-12:
I can only find the HDD diagnostics in that list, it only tested the hard-drive and DVD/CD rom
I also tried the Boot to Utility Partition and it said Device not supported, not found. this was suggested on the link aswell.
My computer runs on 64-bit, the instructions on the link says it’s for a 32-bit.
Any other suggestions?
I think ill move away from DELL the parts is to expensive, and the computer is out of its warrantee, I tampered with it.
I did build up my small for factors mainboard into the desktop tower.
My mainboard for (service tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> ) is blown because of the powersupply, powersupply was dusty, I cleaned it on the inside. Working fine now.
I replaced my small form factor’s (service tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> ) mainboard into the tower, my powersupply for that one is blown (cost R700 excl postage from JHB)
I guess power supply’s from DELL aren’t very good, I have heard a couple of complaints about them.
Apologize for the inconvenience. As the computer is now able to boot to the desktop, you could perform diagnostics on the video card using Dell Support Center application. You can download this application from the below website:
Once you are done with downloading and installing the Dell Support Center application, Open Dell Support Center and click on "PC Checkup" option. Select "Run Custom Scan". The video card option will be listed, you can run the test for it. Please write us back with the test results.
Regarding the Power Supply Unit, its really unfortunate to hear that it went bad. The feedback has been forwarded to the concerned team.

@Dell-Shiva R -
Dell's tiny URLs (http://dell.to/___) are broken on the forum and don't work so please post full URLs until Dell can fix this recent problem.
Right now, Dell's tiny URLs only go to http://www.dell.com/ which isn't the page you referenced to answer this question.
Thanks!

Hi Shiva,
The computeris not starting-up to load the BIOS, the Code is the first thing that displays. That is as far as what I can get.

Ron,
That sure makes sense, to keep using links known not to work. LOL :emotion-4:
That will really impress the forum members requesting help with their issues.
