Ethernet Controller : drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)
I did a full system restore on my Dell Dimension E310 to get rid of a Trogen. I had several problems reinstalling windows xp. At this point the main one, and hopefully the last is the one mentioned above. I can not get on the net so Ive been downloading updated drives to my laptop, then to a disc then to my pc...no go..any ideas??? I have tried following the directions with utilities/driver disc from dell, that didn't work either.
No Events found!

Hey I just did the same thing with my Dimension 4550 and can't connect directly to my Broadband internet with the Ethernet Controller drivers wont install, and I've installed all the blue disc's that came with my computer! Where can I get the drivers for this, so I can save them on my laptop, put them on a disc and then install it into my desk top...that way I can get internet, update my windows so then I can install my wireless card software, which wouldn't let me install it till Window's XP has the SP1! LOL

The problems with devices not installing, when a reinstall was done, is usually caused by not installing the motherboard (Intel) chipset drivers. These drivers MUST be installed BEFORE attempting to install device drivers. Usually, if they were skipped the chipset drivers can be installed, the PC rebooted and then the missing drivers installed. On a few cases it will take a new correct sequence install to get everything working.
On a new/reinstall the correct and required install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install Dell Desktop System Software - on applicalble models (3) Install Chipset Drivers (4) Install Device Drivers including the Dell sound drivers, Video, Ethernet, etc.
