excel-2000

can anyone tells me the excel formula for multipling total hours into dollar amount .for example 43hrs30mins into$6.25 .i am trying to make payroll formula .i have alreadymade formula for how to bring total number of hours.but can't make the ultimate one (total hours*$6.25).is there anybody who has a greater knowledge about excel ?i'll precite your big help. thanks in advance

If I understand you correctly, I do not believe it can be done. Excel would interpret 43hrs30mins as text. Is there some way you can get your cell to display 43.5 instead?
